Hermetic Sealing
Truly hermetic for high reliability
Since most product designs at I2R Electronics take advantage of the benefits of bare die design and integration, I2R uses high performance laser welding to hermetically seal our assemblies after alignment. Using this approach, one single verifiable seal is provided for the whole assembly and reliability is assured. The I2R laser welding process, verified now over thousands of assemblies, uses a 500W YAG laser to melt and merge the housing with its cover or lid. This seal exceeds hermeticity requirements of MIL-STD-883 with better than 10-8 leak rates.
Some assemblies are sealed with seam-seal technology. This approach uses electric current and pressure to fuse the lid to the package for hermetic applications with simpler geometries, meeting the same MIL-STD-883 requirements.
